Geometric Abstract Drawings

Some studio projects call for a site analysis, and while data collection is a wonderful approach, it is also imperative to understand the aesthetic value and potential of the site in terms of its contextual surroundings. This particular hybrid analysis involved careful study of the satelite imagery of the site and its surrounding traditional neighborhood, and overlaying documented shadow paths during the day. The focus of the sun and light study revolved around the numerous courtyards and windtowers since the resulting project called for a design responsive to the surrounding traditional elements. What began with simple lines morphed into layers of shading done by hand, and overlaid with the boundary lines digitally. The result is an abstract piece in its own right.
