Material studies are an important part of understanding the tools we work with. Drawing is a useful technique that forces us to focus on the big picture and the details simultaneously. In my case, I focused on fabrics and drapery, and attempted to capture the way the material moves and interacts with light and shadow using a variety of shading techniques.
