Threshold Installation for an Outside Courtyard

This project was assigned for a coutryard on the American University of Sharjah campus with the objective of creating some form of entrance threshold inspired by something from the local culture. Our intervention was drawn from the local dhow ships and developped to reflect the playful and chaotic nature of the circulation and inhabitation of the courtyard itself. The intervention was bold to say the least, and irregularly patterned to break the monotony of the surrounding buildings. The desired result was the invoke the feeling of walking under the wind-wracked sails of a giant dhow.
